Audrey Fowler Scully Watkins | Obituaries

 On Oct. 27, 2018, Audrey Fowler Scully Watkins of Seminary passed away at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg following a prolonged illness. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle. Brother Brian Dickens will officiate. 

Audrey was born to Dorothy Bagley Fowler and Billy Fowler on Jan. 26, 1948, in Cumming, Ga.  Audrey graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1966, where she was a varsity cheerleader. In 1971, she married W.R. “Winkey” Watkins and moved to Seminary in 1973. She holds two degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi and taught history and special education at Seminary High School for 25 years. She touched approximately 4,000 students in the course of her career. Many of them referred to her affectionately as “Audge” and even came to visit her years after graduation. She was a born teacher who was always happiest in the classroom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother William David Fowler; and stepfather Jim Scully.  

She is survived by her husband Ray; two daughters, Lorie Watkins Massey (Robert) and Julie Watkins Welborn (Tony); sister Dianne Meyer; brother Jeffrey Scully; the two grandchildren who were the light of her life, Nicholas and Katherine Welborn; aunt Martha O. Fowler; and uncle Donald Bagley (Jean).

Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle is in charge of arrangements.
