From 1989 to 1998, Family Matters left viewers falling in love with the Winslow family and the show’s hilarious cast of characters. Jaleel White, Reginald VelJohnson and more of the sitcom’s stars had breakthrough performances in the nine-season series. Today, many alums of the iconic program are continuing their acting careers with other big projects.  The Family Matters cast reunited in 2017, nearly 30 years after the show debuted on ABC.

For the first time in 18 years, the Italian filmmakers Pupi and Antonio Avati are back in the Quad Cities, to shoot part of their ninth film project set in the QC, for a portion of their new thriller, “The Backyard.” The multiple award-winning Avati brothers (Pupi, 85, is director and Antonio, 78, is producer) spent much of Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, outside filming exterior scenes, with no dialogue, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport.

David Landrum of Soso, a graduate of West Jones, has been selected as a Luckyday Scholar at Mississippi State University. Landrum is a new poultry science major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Chris Stapleton has a new album coming in 2023! The award-winning singer-songwriter has announced the upcoming release of a new studio album titled Higher, which is slated to drop on Nov. 10, 2023, via Mercury Nashville. Stapleton and Dan Wilson teamed to co-write a new song, "White Horse," which Stapleton released on Friday (July 21) ahead of the album. Stapleton co-produced the 14 new tracks with his wife, Morgane Stapleton, and his longtime producer, Dave Cobb, working once again at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reminds the public to be aware of the potential for exposure to rabies from infected animals, a news release. So far this year, 27 rabid bats have been found in fourteen Illinois counties. There have been five rabid bats each in Kankakee and Lake counties, four in Cook County, and three in McHenry County. Rabies has also been found in bats in Bureau, Clark, DeKalb, Macon, McLean, Peoria, Rock Island, Sangamon, Wayne, and Will counties.

After previously announcing a string of acoustic dates early on in 2022, Travis Tritt is expanding his live show plans. The singer will embark on his Set in Stone Tour in mid-March. The trek takes its name from Tritt's Set in Stone album, which came out in February 2021 and is the singer's first full-length release in 14 years. Beginning in Orange Beach, Ala., and wrapping with a May 1 stop in Jacksonville, Fla.
