Rock Island added a new face to the city council Monday night when an alderperson took his oath to become the Third Ward alderman. Kevin Maynard, the Quad City Arts executive director, was appointed by Rock Island Mayor Mike Thoms. Maynard said there is a lot of potential and promise in Rock Island and being part of the city council will allow him to help the city move forward with its goals and projects.

The newcomers to Love Island 2019 are serving some serious sass this year. First off, male model Danny smized his way into the villa. Then it was announced that not one, but two new girls would enter the villa in episode 9 of the show. Quad City Music Guild hasn’t even opened its July show, but it’s already eyeing a big season for 2023, with powerhouse titles on tap for Prospect Park in Moline. The community theater announced its next season slate Thursday on Facebook — its 75th season of Broadway in the park. It will consist of the following: “Rent” — March 2023“Singin’ in the Rain” — June 2023“The Wizard of Oz” — July 2023“Pippin” — August 2023“Sweeney Todd” — November 2023 Of the five shows, the Jonathan Larson rock musical “Rent” (1996) is a Music Guild premiere, said board president Jen Sondgeroth.
